Gary Mathis Jr., 48, of Silsbee, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home. A native and longtime resident of Silsbee, he worked in maintenance for SISD for 24 years. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Mathis of Silsbee; son, Gary “Tray” Mathis III of Rockwall; father, Gary Mathis Sr. of Evadale; step-children, Ashley Viator of Silsbee, Sarah Pelt of Arlington, Andrew Pelt of Tyler, Jesse Pelt of Nederland, Josh Pelt of Silsbee, Len Williams Jr. of Lumberton, and Veronica Williams of Silsbee; sisters, Debra Sumner, Jean Ray Mc- Clelland, and Cathy Perry, all of Silsbee, Christy Prewitt of Buna and Mary Beth Mathis of Arizona; brothers, Jeff Clowers of Spurger and Raymond Glenn Hooks of Shephard; and 21 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
