
A funeral service with military honors for Jesse Robert “Bobby” Ross, 72, of Gary, was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at Jimerson- Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with Bro. Toby Tipps and Dr. Dale Reed officiating. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Ross passed away on Sunday morning, Sept. 6, 2015, in Carthage. Jesse Robert Ross was born on Sept. 11, 1942, in Carthage to the late Robert Brinson and Billie Bowen Ross. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1961, and attended the University of Maryland. Mr. Ross served his country in the U. S. Air Force, having fought during Vietnam and Desert Storm, and retired and was honorably discharged after 25 years of service. He married Anna Marie Hattaway on Dec. 31, 1981 in Carthage. Mr. Ross worked as a mechanic in Carthage for many years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5620, American Legion Post #353, and the Vietnam Veterans Assn. He loved spending time with his family and friends, watching sports, and playing on his computer. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Gary. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Jesse Robert Ross, Jr. Mr. Ross is survived by his wife Anna of Gary; sons, Jessie Wayne Ross and wife Shalina of Middleton, Idaho; J.R. Ross and wife Meagen of San Antonio; and David James Wells of Ft. Worth; daughters, Angela Kay Bauer of Livingston, Robin Ross Bostick of Carthage, Rhonda Jean Freeman and husband Gary of Silsbee, and Toni Denise Hillin and husband Chet of Pine Hill; brothers, Mike Ross and wife Sue of Carthage and Larry Ross and wife Jo Lynn of Logandale, Neveda; sister, Betty Lawhorn and husband Tommy of Carthage; and 15 grandchildren.
