
Owen Gordon Vaughn, Sr., 90, of Silsbee, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at a Beaumont area hospital. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII in the Pacific. After his service in the military, he attended Brigham Young University, Utah State University, University of Houston, and Rice University. He was an active, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as Bishop Counselor, Seminary Teacher, and Temple Ordinance Worker. He loved reading, but his passion was gardening. Family was very important to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a good man and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Hattie Vaughn; siblings, Bernice Liddell, Archie Barney Vaughn, Evelyn Jelly, Ernistine Reusch, Juanita Tidwell, and Geneva Day. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Willie Lou Vaughn of Silsbee; children, Owen Gordon Vaughn, Jr. and wife Brenda of Kountze, Debra Vaughn Windsor and husband, Ray of New Braunfels, Jeffrey Vaughn and wife, Trina of Avinger, and Mary Fore and husband, John of Silsbee; grandchildren, Laura Lee Foster and husband, Robert, Jami Lynn Larsen and husband, Dane, David Owen Vaughn and wife, Tess, Douglas Keith Rankin and wife, Kristi, Lisa Ann Rankin, Kristina Lynae Abel and husband, Derek, Christopher Lynn Fore, and Karina Lou Boudreaux and husband, Brian; great-grandchildren, Talia, Rhus, Kels, Llyr, Dylan, Tristen, Briley, Linley, Kade, Kara Jeremy, Carrie, Gabriel, And Addilyn; sisters, Beatrice Gustin, and Celesta Montrose; and numerous nieces and nephews. His family received friends at Farmer Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Moulder Memorial Gardens, 7955 Mormon Church Rd., Silsbee, TX, officiated by Bishop Brian Bebee.
