
Frank Arthur Chaney Sr., passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was born November 6, 1943 to Arthur and Byretha Chaney in Indian Hill, Texas. He was the second of nine children. He accepted the Lord at an early age at Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was baptized at the age of 8 at Morris Creek. He attended Mattox Elementary School and graduated from Wiergate High School in 1962. In 1963 he moved to Silsbee, Texas. In 1965 he joined the Armed Forces and served two years. Upon returning to Silsbee, he joined and faithfully served at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church until his death. He served wherever he was asked or needed. He was an ordained Deacon, worked on the Finance Committee, sang in the choir, served in the Brotherhood Auxiliary, a member of Brothers United and the brethren maintenance group. He was also a faithful servant who assisted with Sunday School, Prayer meeting and he served as a faithful Prayer Warrior with Reverend Chapman. On December 23, 1971 he married Amy Lynn Young, and they remained in Holy Matrimony for 46 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as a Master Mason. He worked for Robinson Tank Line for a few years and later ARCO Gas Line for 20 years, where he later retired. To keep busy he returned to work as a Contract driver for Renzenberger Limousine Company. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hinson Chaney; and sister, Birdie Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Amy Chaney, five children: Catherine Kirk of Silsbee, Texas; Kimberly Garrett of Dallas, Texas; Regina (Ricky) Chaney-Williams of Silsbee, Texas; Frank (Gwen) Chaney Jr. of Tomball, Texas and Phillip (Casheena) Chaney of Lil Elm, Texas; three brothers: M.C. (Joanne) Chaney of Jasper, Texas: George Chaney of Silsbee, Texas, Vinson (Thalia) Chaney of Wylie, Texas; three sisters: Tanzie (Johnny) Fowler of Silsbee, Texas; Bettye Ardoin of Beaumont, TX and Della Hill of Silsbee, Texas; 14 grandchildren, special nephew, Adrian Tapscott, a host of relatives, church family, community members and friends. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Proctor’s Mortuary with burial following at Kirby Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. the day of service at the church. Repast will be at the Y.Y.A.F.A. Center in Silsbee.
