James Van Haverbeke Sr., died, Friday, June 10, 2016 at Whispering Oaks Lodge in Lumberton. A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 14 at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. A native of Nowata, Oklahoma, he was a longtime resident of this area. He was a United States Army veteran and he coached and taught school until retiring from Evadale ISD. Survivors include his wife, Dixie Bean Van Haverbeke of Silsbee; sons, Chip Van Haverbeke of Port Neches and Andy Van Haverbeke of Montgomery; sisters, Joan Ussery of Willis and Patsy Kozub of Conroe; and seven grandchildren.
