Ed Tom Worthey

Funeral services for Ed Tom Worthey, 84, of Silsbee will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Worthey passed away February 6, 2017 at Silsbee Convalescent Center, where he was receiving rehab after falling and breaking his hip in April, 2016. Born in Jasper on August 15, 1932 to Robert Wiley and Ella White Worthey, he was a long time resident of Silsbee and owned Wooden Pallets LTD since 1983. He was generous to a fault and loved his family and employees. Ed Tom enjoyed time spent with family and friends at his ranches in Duvall County and his Chenault-Apache Ranch in Webb County. Mr. Worthey is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years Patsy Ruth Oubre Worthey, brother Sherman White Worthey, and sisters Robbie Jones and Dorothy Huff. Survivors include son, Robert Edward Worthey and wife Eva Marie; daughters, Teressa Kountz and husband Jeff and Tonya Hedleston and husband Larry, all of Silsbee; sister, Betty Jean Bass of Orange; grandchildren, Oubre Evanna Worthey, Cole Wiley Worthey and Ashley Nicole Joines and great grandchildren, Kylee and Lila Kountz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Worthey’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Silsbee, 350 Hwy 96 S, Silsbee TX 77656 or the Christian Care Center, 415 W Ave P, Silsbee TX 77656. Funeral service was Sunday, February 12 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Born in Evadale and a longtime resident of Silsbee, she was a homemaker. Survivors include daughters, Jo Ann Blair of Spurger, Pamela McWilliams of Silsbee, Elizabeth McPherson of Jena, Louisiana, Tina Anderson of Fred, and Onneta Knighten of Silsbee; brothers, Ricky Loftin and Dennis Loftin, both of Fred; sisters, Laura Faye Garsee of Warren Billy Wilson of Fred, Onneta Eason of Fred, and Gale Essary of of Spurger; and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Michael Evans Thomason, 55, of Buna, died Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 16 at Suddeth Bluff Cemetery in Newton County under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was a native and longtime resident of Houston before moving to Buna five years ago. He worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a correctional officer and was a United States Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Ashley Thomason of Buna; son, Landon Thomason of Buna; daughter, Crystal Thomason of Kose; and two grandchildren.

Funeral service was Saturday, February 11 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following in R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery, also in Silsbee. A native of San Augustine, she had lived in Silsbee prior to moving to Ennis. She had worked for Foodway Grocery Store, J. Chancellor Office Supply, 1st National Bank, FF Stockton, Gibson’s, Cunningham Furniture and she also sold shoes. Survivors include sons, Lonnie Wade Yawn and wife Mary of College Station and Wesley Durwood Yawn Jr. and wife Teran of Cedar Park; daughters, Jenny Gayle Winegeart of Ennis and Kay Skuza and husband Richard of Jasper; brother, Newton Simmons of Kirbyville; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Roy Edward Blount Sr. “P-John”, 86, of Lufkin passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at his home. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18 at St. Beulah Baptist Church in Silsbee with burial following in Kirby Cemetery under the direction of J.B. Coleman Memorial Mortuary in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. the day of service at the church. He was a lifelong resident of Silsbee before moving to Lufkin. He was a retired logger. Survivors include his children, Kim Blount Jenkins and Carol Blount Settler, both of Silsbee, Joyce Thompson and husband Calvin of Beaumont and Roy Edward Blount Sr. and wife Sharon of Los Angeles, California; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phyllis Oveta Eason lost her brief but fierce battle with heart disease in Kingwood Hospital on Sunday the 12th of February, 2017, at the age of 76. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Amber Mary Wallace and Philip Ogeese Eason and by two brothers Milton Eason and John W. Eason. Phyllis is survived by her husband Jerrell Jolley of Livingston; her brother Melvin Eason and his wife Mary Helen Davis Eason of Cleveland, Texas; and sisters Helen Tipton of Cleveland Texas, Mary Hinson of Blanchard, Louisiana, and Diana Johnson of Shepherd Texas. She is also survived by five children Charles Loftin, Jr of Mont Bellvieu, Kyle Loftin and his wife Mary of Belton, Tammy Mace and her husband Brad of Hutto, Julie Jolley and her husband Howard "Pete" Thomas of Houston, and Dallas Hall and her husband Michael of Austin; 14 grandchildren Ashley, Candice, Kristina, Joshua, Aubrey, JJ, Marissa, Hali, Emily, Amber, Treldon, Faith, Joel, and Thomas; and 4 great grandchildren. Phyllis was born on August 7th of 1940 in Silsbee Texas. She graduated as Salutatorian from Kountze High School in 1958. She married Charles Loftin of Kountze, Texas and raised three children while attending Lamar University on a part time basis. She worked for Dr. Miller in Beaumont for several years before beginning her career at the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1980. She worked in the Narcotics Division, achieving the title of Analyst and finally of statewide Manager of the Precursor Chemical Program and earning the award of Outstanding Service to the DEA. She retired from DPS in 2003 after 23 years of dedicated service. She celebrated 50 years in the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gaming and traveling, especially with longtime friends Don and Joy Hatcher. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday the 16th of February at 10:00 a.m. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Texas. Reverend Richard Brand of Cedar Park, Texas will officiate the ceremony, assisted by Reverend Bobby Aid of Rye, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Jolley- Largent Cemetery in Moss Hill, Texas. All are welcome to attend. Flowers and condolences may be sent to the funeral home at 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty Texas, 77575. Jo Hedge

Jo Berna Coleman Hedge, family woman and small business owner, was born December 4, 1929, in Woodville, Texas, the daughter of Alma Jane Coleman and John Coleman. She passed away on February 15, 2017 - six months and a day after the passing of her loving husband, Jack. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and wife. Jo attended business school in Beaumont, Texas after graduating from Silsbee (TX) High School. Shortly after, Jo had a brief career as a flight attendant for TransTexas Airlines. She then began working for the Texas Highway Department in Beaumont where she met her husband of 64 years, Jack Darnell Hedge. Jo and Jack started their family in the Woodlea neighborhood in Silsbee. Jo learned the insurance business there, working for The Silsbee Insurance Agency. In 1974, the family moved to Lake Dallas, Texas. There, she was founder and owner of the Lake Cities Insurance Agency - the first insurance agency in Lake Dallas and one of the first female owned agencies in Texas, a male dominated industry. She grew the agency from its original location on Main Street next to the hardware store to a new building on I-35 she co-built and owned with a local businessman and close friend  After raising her family in the Lake Cities area, and sending her 2 sons off to college, she and Jack moved to Dallas. Jo worked for several years for the Arch Owen Insurance Company and Hedge Creative while managing bookkeeping and accounting for several small businesses like the Stephanie Anne Boutique and others. A lifelong Baptist, Jo was a long-time member of the Park Cities Baptist Church in University Park. Jo was heavily involved in the communities in which she lived, for example founding the first Lake Cities Beautification Committee in Lake Dallas. She is survived by her two sons, Jack Hedge of Los Angeles, California and Jeffrey Hedge of Dallas; two grandchildren, Jaclynne Hedge and Coleman Hedge, both of Seattle, Washington; and brother, John Coleman of Beaumont. The family receiveed friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Cities Baptist Church in the Ellis Chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

Funeral services for Ross Travis Lightfoot, 23, of Silsbee were at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Silsbee with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Visitation was Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ross passed away February 15, 2017 in College Station. Born in Beaumont, Ross was a lifetime resident of Silsbee. He graduated from Silsbee High School and was a senior at Texas A&M University, College Station, set to graduate in May with a degree in computer engineering with a minor in math. Ross was a member of Westgate Church of Christ in Beaumont. He is survived by his father, Donald Ray Lightfoot Jr. of Vidor; mother, Veronica Gayle Luna Lightfoot of Silsbee; grandparents, Matt and Gayle Luna of Silsbee and Alice and Don Lightfoot Sr. of Vidor; sister, Victoria Gayle Lightfoot of Silsbee; brother, Kevin Ray Lightfoot of Silsbee; aunts and uncles, Ron Luna of Silsbee, Lisa Thompson and late husband Donald Thompson of Silsbee, Ernest Lightfoot of Philadelphia, PA, Richard Lightfoot of Beaumont and Jerry Lightfoot and wife Julie of Vidor; and numerous cousins. Ross was a wonderful son, grandson and brother and will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Allen Management Company and was a United Staes Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Katherine Barrilleaux; children, Clayton Carl of Aurora, Colorado, Laurie Swindells and husband Michael of Lumberton, Shawn Meadows and wife Jann of Estes Park, Colorado and Ashley Metz and husband Gary of Crowley; sister, Beverly Lowrance and husband Jimmy; brothers, Rick Barrilleaux and wife Vicki and Brent Barrilleaux and wife Lori; and 12 grandchildren.
