Robert Hershel Hunt, 85, of Kountze, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at The Gardens-Altus in Beaumont. Funeral service was Friday, August 11 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial at Old Hardin Cemetery, also in Kountze. Born in Hillsboro, he served in the National Guard of the United States and retired as superintendent of numerous public schools. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gerri Hunt; children, Mickey Nathan Hunt and wife Debra Kay of Pleasanton, Teresa Hunt Sullivan of Magnolia, Holly Serien Weyler and husband Randy of Wildwood and Melanie Rene´ Hunt of Kingwood; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Clifford Harry Lanier, 76, of Silsbee, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was a United States Marine Vietnam veteran and retired from the chemical industry. Survivors include his children, Clifford Erik Lanier and wife Melanie and Vivian Hansen, all of Silsbee, Tina Lanier Gomez and husband Mark of Gretna, Louisiana and Calvin Lanier of Chalmette, Louisiana; sisters, Connie Green, Tresy Knapps, Joyce Tapp, Dollie Lanier, and Debbie Thornton; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze.

Lyndalon Dinelle Moye-Young, 70 years old, crossed over on August 14, 2017. She was born on October 11, 1946 to Willie Moye and Doretha Gilder. She graduated from Waldo Matthews High School, and spent her later years as a devoted daughter, housewife, mother, secretary, grandmother and great-grandmother. The memorial service will be held Friday, August 25 at St. Beulah Baptist Church in Silsbee, Texas at 1 p.m., followed by the burial at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodville, Texas. The arrangements were handled by Coleman’s Funeral Home. She is survived by her children, Sonya Young, Lynn Young and Ian Young; her grandchildren, Cole Young, Trysten Young, Ciana Young and Paisley Young; great-grandchildren, Maximillian Young and Jaxson Young; along with other family members in the United States and Japan who adored her.

Funeral services for Sarah E. Kuritz, 86, of Silsbee were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kuritz passed away August 19 at Silsbee Convalescent Center. Sarah was born June 16, 1931 in Silsbee to Hammond and Mary Moss Hollyfield. She was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jackie Lynn Starnes; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include son, Paul Durr and wife Jeannie of Silsbee; six grandchildren Trent and Michael Durr and Jack, Matt, Major and Nicholas Starnes; and three great grandchildren Michaela, Paisleigh and Triniteigh.

Alice Kathryn (Terry) Jeffcoat

Alice Kathryn (Terry) Jeffcoat went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 24, 2017, she was 80 years and 1 week of age. Alice was born August 15, 1937, to Joe Terry and Georgia Oleta Marrs Terry in Warren, Texas. She was raised in this corner of Southeast Texas and attended French High School. Alice married Sam Jeffcoat July 13, 1954, in Beaumont, Texas, and they spent over sixty-three years of their life happily together. They made their home and raised their family of three children in the heart of downtown Fred. Alice was a beloved and longtime member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Fred, where she served as treasurer for over a decade. Alice was a Sunday school teacher, church volunteer, bookkeeper for her husband and sons’ tractor business, tax preparer, caring neighbor, and participated in numerous community events throughout the years. She loved sewing, and handmade countless Christmas dresses, Halloween costumes, and many other creations for her grandchildren and others. Her cooking and desire to feed and care for others remains above all a testament to her loving spirit. Most importantly she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and shared her faith through word and deed with all those around her. Alice is survived by her devoted husband, Sam Jeffcoat; daughter, Sandra and husband, Tony Nassif; son, Jimmy Jeffcoat; and son, Joel and wife, Judy Jeffcoat. She was blessed with grandchildren and greatgrandchildren including Sandra’s children, April Ruen, husband, Jason and children, Luke and Meagan, Brent Fry, wife, Janet and daughter, Aubrey Kathryn; Jimmy’s children, Nickie Barber and sons, Nickolas and Dylan, Justin Jeffcoat, Claudia Kathryn (Katie) Jeffcoat, Sammie Jo Jeffcoat, Maegan Archer and her children; and Joel’s children, Shad Skinner, wife, Tressa and sons, Keegan, Brendan, and Cameron, and Christi Cauthen, husband, Will and sons, Seth and Mason. Alice is also survived by her brother, John Terry and his family, special cousins, Anne, Dorothy, and Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews who brought her happiness and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Georgia Terry; brothers, Bill Terry, Derl Terry, and Pete Terry; sister, Adah-June Terry; and aunt, Helen Strom. The family is eternally grateful to all those who kept Alice in their prayers and visited her, with a special thanks to Debra, Joanie and Kindred Hospice for the loving care and attention given to Alice and her family over the past four months. Friends and loved ones were invited to attend the visitation Friday, August 25, 2017, at Broussard’s Funeral Home of Silsbee from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service was Saturday August 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Bro. Robert McCelland at the Broussard’s Chapel in Silsbee. Interment immediately followed at Franks Branch Community Cemetery in Fred, TX, with a luncheon afterwards hosted by Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39

Funeral services for Leona Jo Whitman-Kellum, 45, of Silsbee were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation was Friday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Mrs. Kellum passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at her residence. Jo was born January 13, 1972 in Silsbee to Vernon David and Mary Richard Whitman. She was a lifelong resident of this area. Jo was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was vivacious, fun loving and a joy to be around. Her family meant everything to her and if you were her friend, she would go to the end of the earth to be there for you. Jo will be deeply missed by her loving family and many, many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Leona Whitman. Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Chloe Kantrell Durr and husband Trent of Silsbee, and Kirsti Caraline Spell of Silsbee. Also surviving her are her precious grandchildren Cesleigh, Paisleigh, Kase, Triniteigh, and Chandler; and her aunt, Lillian Fuller.

Donald Pierson

Donald Charles Pierson, 60, of Wildwood, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 28, 2017, at his home in Wildwood. He was born on February 3, 1957, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to June Potter Pierson Law and Robert Pierson. Don came from a large family, he was the ninth of ten children. He graduated from Plano High School, Plano, in 1975 and continued his education at Stephen F. Austin State University. Don moved to Houston to start a career as an Optician at Christy Optical. Since 2004 Don has been with Dr. Peter Case at Beaumont Family Eye Care over the Lab and as an Optician. Don is also a full-time pastor at Genesis Baptist Church of Silsbee. He preached his last sermon on July 30, 2017, until he could not stand up any more on his own. Don spread the gospel until he lost his battle to cancer. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Pierson; children, Michelle Pierson of Hankamer; Jason Pierson and his wife, Stephanie, of Hudson; Melissa Geiger and her husband, Nate, and John Darrell Gordon and his wife, Angel, all of Vidor; Letisha Eason and her husband, Virgel, and April Gordon, all of Fred; and Maritza Swift and her husband, Cedric, of Houston; twenty two grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, Robert E. Pierson of Lafayette, Indiana, and Tom McReynolds and his wife, Joyce, of Choctaw, Ohio; and sisters, Mary Symes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jeanie O’Neil and her husband, Mack, of Panama City, Florida; and Kathy Cooke, and her husband, Dennis, of Dickinson. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Naomi and Ernest Potter; brothers, Robert D. Pierson, Dan McReynolds, and Gary Pierson; sister, Dorothy Breech; and stepdad, Adrian Law. A gathering of Don’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2017, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at R.S. Elmer Cooley

Elmer Cooley, 79, of Livingston, Texas went to his Heavenly home Sunday, August 27, 2017 after passing away at Kingwood Hospital. He worked primarily in the oilfield industry for Ashland Oil for 47 years, and retired from serving his local church of Livingston First Assembly of God where he was a longstanding member. Elmer was known to many as a farmer, fisherman, a loving father, a Christian, a provider, and friend. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family, his church and God. He loved to visit with friends and help people in need, all you had to do was ask and he was there ready and willing to help. Preceding him in death were his parents, Angie Lee Van Pelt Cooley and Robert Franklin Cooley; his brother, A.C. Cooley; and a son, Robert Allen Cooley. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Crickett Cooley of Livingston, Texas; five daughters, Wanda Cooley of Brenham, Texas, Renee Pond and husband Kevin of Brenham, Texas. Paula Cooley of Houston, Texas, Marla Demarest of Livingston, Texas and Cheryl Cooley of Brenham, Texas; four sisters, Velma Self of Silsbee, Texas, Marie Smith of Woodville, Texas, Nancy West of Sour Lake, Texas and Hazel Tyson of Singer, Louisiana; 12 grandkids and 4 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way, along with his best canine companion, Skylar. Funeral services were at 12 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N 4th St., Silsbee, Texas 77656. Reverends Chris Borden and Wayne Landrum officiated. Interment followed at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, Texas. Visitation was Monday from 10 a.m. until the funeral services began. In lieu of flowers and gifts we respectfully request that a monetary donation be made in the deceased’s name to Farmer Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Sam Cavalier, Kevin Poole, Shane Russell, Jimmie Rowland, Kyle Huvar and Ryan Pond, as well as an honorary pallbearer, Dakota Cooley.

Clinton Starnes Sherrell Jr., 76, of Silsbee, passed away August 26, 2017 at Silsbee Convalescent Center. Mr. Sherrell was born in Ysleta, Texas June 4, 1941 to Clinton S. Sherrell Sr. and Ouida Bess ‘Betty’ Haralson Sherrell. Clinton was a lifelong resident of Silsbee and was retired from Silsbee ISD where he taught auto mechanics. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast. Mr. Sherrell is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Christina Darlene Musinski. Left behind to cherish his memories are his daughter, Mary Katherine Adams of Kyle; sisters, Kay Gregg of Clear Lake City and Mary Reidinger of Silsbee. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren Jessica Percer, Danny Shelton, Ashleigh Lense and Claire Hall and three great- grandchildren. There are no services planned at this time. Mr. Sherrell will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry Jordan Sr.

Larry Charles Jordan, Sr., of Mont Belvieu, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13, 1956 in Beaumont, Texas to Charles Jordan and Ruby Jean Attaway Sanders. Larry graduated from Lumberton High School in 1974. He and his wife were residents of Beaumont before relocating to the Mont Belvieu area in 1980. Larry worked for the City of Mont Belvieu for 35 years and was the Public Works Director. He was devoted to his job, was very proud being the public works director and would always say that he felt like the city was his own. Larry was always caring, genuine and an admirable mentor and a true friend to many. He constantly stayed so positive even after being diagnosed with cancer a year and a half ago. Larry was a very devoted and loving husband, father, pawpaw and friend. He enjoyed anything that involved his family. Larry was an adventurous soul who enjoyed skydiving, motorcross, mudding and just about anything to do with a UTV. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Craig and Gary Jordan; and his sister Debra Jordan. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 37 years, Terri Helton Jordan; his son Larry Jordan, Jr. and wife Tania of Mont Belvieu; his grandchildren Braden, Austin, Alex and Katelyn; his brother Daryl Jordan of Lumberton, Texas; and numerous extended family members and friends. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends were invited to visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Sterling Funeral Home, with Bro Royce Keller officiating.
